Young Junior Tennis Camps

The Young Junior Tennis Camps at Mouratoglou Academy Malaysia are warm and welcoming, half-day sessions for children who are trying tennis for the first time, as well as beginner and early-intermediate juniors. We prioritise fun and encouragement, so children build a genuine love for tennis while learning key fundamentals through age-appropriate games.

Children are grouped according to their current level and placed into Red, Orange or Green Ball groups. This ensures the right ball, court size and learning pace, helping each child gain confidence and progress naturally.

HALF-DAY • No boarding FUN & FRIENDLY • Parent-approved environment
Important: Intermediate-to-advanced Green Ball players are not recommended for these Young Junior Tennis Camps. Intensive Camps and Competition Camps are more suitable for children who already rally consistently, play full-court tennis and compete regularly.
Red, Orange & Green Ball Progression: Tennis uses different coloured balls for children so the game feels easier and more fun. Red is the slowest and best for early learning, Orange adds a little more speed, and Green is closest to the normal Yellow ball for full-court play.

Typical age guide: Red Ball (4–8), Orange Ball (7–9), Green Ball (8–11). Groupings are confirmed by coaches based on a short-assessment at the beginning of the programme, with a maximum of 4 children per court at any given time.

What Is The Mouratoglou Methodology?
There is no standard method. Each player is a unique project, requiring a tailor-made approach adapted to their personality, needs and objectives. This is why we call it the Mouratoglou Methodology, rooted in five fundamental pillars.
  • Listening: deeply understanding each athlete, beyond words
  • Individual coaching: adapting training to the specific needs of each player
  • Relentless pursuit of excellence: always aiming higher and pushing back limits
  • Results-oriented culture: achieving tangible results on and off the court
  • Constant questioning: continuously reinventing and innovating
This methodology transcends tennis and is applied across sports and disciplines, giving every child the tools to unlock their full potential.

Young Juniors Camp FAQ

Young Juniors Camps are warm, welcoming half-day sessions for children aged 4–11. They are ideal for children trying tennis for the first time, as well as beginner and early-intermediate juniors.

We prioritise enjoyment and encouragement, so children build confidence and a genuine love for the game while learning key fundamentals through age-appropriate games.

This is a half-day day camp (no boarding). Parents/guardians are responsible for drop-off and pick-up.

  • Please arrive 10–15 minutes early so your child can settle in comfortably.
  • Please pick up on time at the end of each session.

Children are grouped by current level and placed into Red, Orange, or Green Ball groups. This ensures the right ball, court size and learning pace.

  • Red Ball (Stage 1): typically ages 4–8; larger, slower ball and smaller court to build early coordination and contact.
  • Orange Ball (Stage 2): typically ages 7–9; ball is ~50% slower than yellow; helps children progress towards more match-like play.
  • Green Ball (Stage 3): typically ages 8–11; ball is ~25% slower than yellow; full-court introduction with age-appropriate tactics and movement.

Groupings are confirmed by coaches with a short assessment at the start of the programme.

To keep learning safe, engaging and personalised, we run a maximum of 4 children per court at any given time.

We also aim for continuity: the same lead coach stays with the group across the weekend or weekday programme.

A sample half-day flow (timings may vary slightly by group):

  • 08:30 – 10:30 Tennis
  • 10:30 – 12:30 Recovery · Mobility · Games
  • 12:30 – 13:30 Lunch

Sessions include warm-up games (mobility, balance, hand–eye coordination), skill-building and rally play, point play and mini matches, plus a short cool-down and reflection.

  • Tennis shoes (non-marking) and comfortable sportswear
  • Water bottle and a small snack (refill stations are available on campus and at the tennis complex)
  • Sports towel
  • Cap and sunscreen (SPF 30–50+ suitable for the Malaysian sun)
  • Spare change of clothes and socks (recommended)
  • Appropriate racquet (if you have one)
  • Personal medication if required (please inform coaches)

If your child already rallies consistently, plays full-court tennis and competes regularly, we typically recommend our Intensive Camps or Competition Camps instead.

Young Juniors Camps are built to support early learning, confidence, coordination and foundational technique.

Both formats follow the same overall structure and coaching approach. The best choice depends on your family’s schedule and how much time your child can commit.

  • Weekend (Sat–Sun): suitable if you want a short, fun introduction or a quick boost.
  • Weekday (Mon–Fri): better for building routine, repetition and steadier progress across the week.

Pricing guidance (subject to published dates): Weekend is typically RM 1,700; Weekday is typically RM 2,700.

Camps are hosted at the Mouratoglou Tennis Complex on the Epsom College Malaysia campus. Sessions may take place on indoor and outdoor courts depending on conditions and group needs.
